Julien Benhamou

location Paris, France

At the age of 12, Julien Benhamou realized that photographing people allows him to access a privileged relationship with them. In 2008, during the realization of a personal project with the National Opera of Paris in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, he decided to become an independent photographer.

His encounters and collaborations with dance legends, such as Marie-Agnes Gillot, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Benjamin Millepied, Aurélie Dupont and Ohad Naharin, gave him wings and passion. Far from the academic image of classical ballets, he offers dance a poetic and sophisticated vision. The poses are liberated from the conventions, the artificial lights define the bodies and the muscles, and the dancers pose like models in motion. Becoming one of the official photographers of the National Opera of Paris, Julien Benhamou released his first book on October 10, 2018, gathering the photos of these artists dancers who amaze.
